6 SHORE ROAD BY POOJA
Designer Pooja Kharbanda is a global nomad, style maven and beach lover. Born in New Delhi, Pooja spent her youth and teens in Hong Kong and Panama. Her favorite weekends were those spent at the beach with family or friends, and she found inspiration in the magnetic energy of the waves, sand, and sun. As an adult, Pooja's passion for travel took her to exotic locales all over the world including Curacao, Isla Grande, 7 Mile Beach in Negril. She began to incorporate the style of her careless seaside days abroad into her own personal style, which was heavily influenced by her mother, Sandla Kharbanda. An Indian woman in the 1970's, Pooja's mother was ahead of her time, wearing bikini tops under saris with polka-dot bell bottoms and showing off her midriff with a high-top bow - completing the look with oversized sunglasses. It was after she spent time immersed in New York City as a student at Parsons School of Design that Pooja decided to launch 6 Shore Road. In 2010 she made it official naming the label for her carefree days and laidback weekends spent at the Sunset Beach Hotel in the Hamptons. Launching with kaftans and cover ups, Pooja soon added swimwear to her resort repertoire. Combining the form shaping ideas behind intimates with the ease and style of beach style, 6 Shore Road has become known for effortless silhouettes that can take its girls beach to bar. Swimsuits double as body suits and are made to wear with a skirt or pants; a pair of heels can make a seaside cover up into a flirty dancing dress - each style is designed to be transitional, effortless and sexy. 6 Shore Road is for lounging on the beach, sipping champagne at the bar and dancing as the sun goes down - all effortlessly. The 6 Shore Road collection is carried in retailers worldwide including Neiman Marcus, Saks, Shopbop, Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters. The brand has also become a favorite amongst young Hollywood starlets Ashley Tisdale, Kristen Cavallari, and Ashlee Simpson.
