AYAKA ICHIKAWA (JAPAN)
Ayaka Ichikawa Ayaka Ichikawa, the fashion designer and founder of aquintic® was born in Fukuoka, Japan. She learned basics of garment construction and fashion design in Tokyo, and worked in clothes retail, before moving to Bangkok Thailand for three years to expand her knowledge of design and culture. In 2009, she enrolled for Bachelor of Design - majoring in Fashion, at Raffles College of Design, Sydney. Her conceptual garments were first showcased internationally at Yodex 2011: Young Designer’s Exhibition in Taipei. In that same year, she was also featured in the website of Powerhouse Museum Australia, in the upcoming designer column, D*hub - Designer 6x6. Upon graduation she started the brand, aquintic®, in 2012. Its first collection features women’s day wear and evening gowns, and will be making its debut appearance in the upcoming Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2012. aquintic® is based on the concept of art in fashion and believes in delivering high-end quality garments with detailed tailoring and hand finishings. The brand aims to create an aquintic® way of fashion for women, and casually incorporating menswear elements in style.
