Bianca Spender creates beautiful clothes that elevate the mood of the wearer through an unexpected tension. Her collection is known to mix structure with softness, resulting in looks both sophisticated yet spirited. Intelligent pieces often draped from a single piece of cloth are an important source of inspiration. Of paramount importance to Bianca in the design process is finding a sense of balance. Her references range from art and music to nature and technology. Bianca seeks a new modern poetry, clothes that combine understatement and elevation, precision and imagination. The signature of Bianca Spender’s process is how it embraces duality at every stage. By exploring the dynamics of our modern society her designs reflect elements of the natural and industrial landscape where there is a beauty in the disruption. Bianca’s passion for craftsmanship and artistry forms her focus on tailoring. The first flagship store was opened on Oxford St, Sydney in 2008. The Bianca Spender brand has now expanded to three stand alone boutiques; Paddington, Mosman and Melbourne Emporium; and eight David Jones concept stores nationally. Bianca showed on schedule for the first time in 2010 at Australian Fashion Week and continues to showcase regularly. Bianca Spender lives in Sydney with her partner and two sons.
