Bold colour combinations, imaginative print designs and luxurious fabrics are married with refined silhouettes and classic tailoring as the fundamental building blocks for emerging fashion label Duvenage. Founder and head designer, Hayley Ann was born in South Africa and raised in Queensland where she started her professional career as a journalist after completing a degree in journalism at the University of Queensland. Shortly into her profession Hayley realized that her true aspiration was to work in the fashion industry and with this she moved to Melbourne. During her three years of study, Hayley found she had an affinity for print design, winning several prominent fashion awards and moving on to further her skills by working for national fashion brands including Gorman and Roger David. Launching into the market in 2013 with a range of silk scarves, Duvenage will expand into apparel to debut at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia in 2014. Much like fashion, art tells a story through time, and holds many memories, and emotive responses for people. It was this idea that served as the inspiration for Duvenage’s Spring/Summer 2014/15 apparel range – l ’art de l ’abstraction. Unique pieces that have personality and function are key to the collection with Duvenage’s signature exclusive prints a true highlight. Freehand brush-strokes, geometric overlays and abstract patterns create an emotional tactility to each piece to produce a colourful, yet considered result. Luxury European silks, organzas and tweeds elevate the range of chic, elegant silhouettes with key shapes including tulip skirts, long-line cocoon coats and high-waisted flared pants. Duvenage’s classic range of silk scarves is re-invented in the seasonal prints and offers an affordable entry-level purchase.
