Born in Athens to an Egyptian father and a Greek mother, the New York based designer Fotini, built a brand that showcases ultra-feminine, flirty and current collections. The combination of luxurious fabrics, modern finishes and her personal love of corsetry is the DNA of the brand. Raised in Canada, Fotini initially embarked on a career in finance and marketing at the direction of her father, however she could not ignore her passion for design and the dreams she carried as a little girl of creating beautiful clothes. Fotini spent three years traveling to Italy studying the construction of corsetry beside old world ateliers in Bologna, Como and Bergamo. The time spent abroad enabled her to design the beautiful garments she felt were missing from her closet. With a keen understanding of her customer’s needs, Fotini is a woman designing for women. The FOTINI Fall/Winter 2012 collection paid homage to her heritage, drawing inspiration from Egyptian queens and Greek goddesses. Utilizing chiffon and jacquard fabrics in rich jewel tones while adding unexpected touches like laser cut leather, feathers and beading, Fotini created a collection that has equal parts of glamour and femininity. “I love shiny things, a sexy silhouette and luxurious fabrics,” Fotini has said of her designs. “A woman should not be afraid to show her femininity.” This fall Fotini will debut Spring/Summer 2013 collection during New York Fashion Week at Lincoln Center. Fotini will also show at Houston Fashion Week in November where she will be one of the featured designers.
