LeAnn Nealz: A Biography
President and Chief Creative Officer, CFDA member
Throughout her distinguished career LeAnn Nealz has shaped the creative direction of some of the world’s most recognized brands.
Recently inducted into the esteemed CFDA, Ms. Nealz is at the helm at Juicy Couture as President and Chief Creative Officer to lead the brand into its next phase by redefining and reenergizing, enhancing creative direction and strategy, and improving the product. She meets this challenge armed with extensive industry experience and creative talent.
Ms. Nealz began her career in Los Angeles as a celebrity makeup artist and stylist. During this time she met the Marcianos, who hired her to work on the marketing and development of their new company. Nealz would eventually play a vital role in successfully launching Guess Jeans. LeAnn then met Calvin Klein, who invited her to New York City to run the design departments at Calvin Klein Sport and CK Jeans.
After four years at Calvin Klein, HBO tapped Ms. Nealz as the Head of Costume Design for cult-favorite TV show Tales from the Crypt. From there, she was hired to run the design team at Banana Republic, where she played an instrumental role in re-inventing the brand. Under her direction it went from Safari-inspired pieces to the more versatile, All-American sportswear company it is today.
Furthering her experiences, Ms. Nealz relocated to Europe to launch design studios for Pepe Jeans, opening four offices in locations around the globe. She then collaborated with Andrew Rosen to found Theory, now one of the most recognized and successful upscale ready-to-wear companies in the world.
After remarkable accomplishments with Theory, Ms. Nealz set out to launch her own private label, Le Havlin Piro, while continuing to consult leading fashion companies and maintaining the role of Vice-President and Creative Director of Nine West Group, Inc. Gap Inc. came calling again, and Ms. Nealz returned as Head of Design for Gap Kids and Baby Gap.
Prior to joining Juicy Couture, LeAnn spent six years in the role of Chief Design Officer for American Eagle, where she was responsible for the development of the brand during its peak performance and success. She led the expansion of American Eagle business, launching the brand’s lingerie collection, Aerie, as well as its children’s collection, 77Kids.
LeAnn and her husband, fellow designer Grahame Fowler, divide their time between New York City and Los Angeles.
