Born in New York, Mathieu Mirano attended the Huntington School of Fine Arts before studying at Parsons School of Design in New York City. Through his inspired inventiveness and unique perspective on design, Mirano effectively and consistently utilizes high levels of construction, craft and imagination. At just 22 years of age, Mirano has already established himself as one of America’s influential young designers. Mirano’s highly praised capsule collection, as well as his private commissions for special occasion gowns, prompted him to launch his eponymous Fall collection in 2012. With a background in fine arts and classical piano, Mirano draws inspiration from many world renowned composers such as Camille Saint-Saëns and Philip Glass. Additionally, Mirano garners inspiration for color, patterns, shapes and textures from his extensive travels and cultural experiences in Europe, Asia and Africa. The Mathieu Mirano brand focuses intensely on tailoring, quality, luxury, the invention of new fabrics and embroideries and the juxtaposition between soft femininity and hard structure. With each piece following a "second skin" blueprint, Mirano’s collections continuously utilize classic, iconic shapes to create a flattering silhouette while staying modern through their executions. The combination of these elements creates garments with an unexpected twist, yet a classic, flattering aesthetic. Over the past year, the Mathieu Mirano brand has attracted the attention of national and international top-tier fashion publications, as well as celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Elizabeth Banks and Nicole Richie. Mirano shows a full collection each season at New York Fashion Week, and is sold in retailers nationwide.
