Michael Lo Sordo’s classic signature designs are carefully crafted to ensure the longevity of the label, creating both staple and statement pieces that can be innovated season after season. He takes great care in ensuring that each aspect of the Michael Lo Sordo label is in keeping with its sophisticated and luxurious designs. The innovation in his garments reflects his consistent efforts to not only expand his own vision but the vision of his wearers. Each Michael Lo Sordo piece is distinct even in their utter simplicity, revealing Michael’s innate understanding of the language of style and his powerful ability to reinterpret it in entirely new ways. The last two and a half years have seen Lo Sordo realising some big dreams. He has been named winner of the QANTAS SOYA365 Fashion category, a finalist in the LMFF National Designer Award, included in the prestigious Wool Modern International Exhibition and most excitingly was one of five Australian designers chosen to showcase his AW12 collection prior to New York Fashion Week in conjunction with Australian Wool Innovators and Australians in New York Fashion Foundation. He has shown at MBFWA for five years consecutively with 2014 plans well underway for his 6th show. The brand has also enjoyed a close relationship with AWI showcasing at Milano Unica with Loro PIana, Franca Sozzani and Woolmark as well as being nominated as an Australian finalist in the prestigious International Woolmark Prize (IWP) for 2014, followed by a trip to Milan to showcase his AW14 collection to international trade, buyers and media. Key stockists include David Jones, The Corner Shop, Green with Envy and Joy Hysteric with collections regularly selling out. 2014 has already been a strong year for Lo Sordo with his collection debuting on the David Jones runway as part of the AW14 launch. The new Autumn/Winter 2014 collection was inspired by Lo Sordo’s IWP collection with Merino wool featuring in all its differing forms. His clean lines, elegant and flattering shapes and signature print are showcased with Lo Sordo’s trademark style.
