The label is experimental, tactile, dark, feminine, strong, luxurious, seductive, fun and eco friendly. Rachael Cassar studied Fashion and Textile Design at the University of Technology Sydney and graduated in 2006. In April 2007, four months after graduating, Rachael launched her brand RACHAEL CASSAR. In the same year she achieved a significant boost to her career by winning the International Competition for emerging designers – Mittelmoda – in Italy and since then has exhibited around the world with her “ecouture”! ‘Rachael Cassar’ is a high-end women-wear sustainable fashion label. Rachael Cassar uses the process of deconstruction to create garments that are ‘one offs’ comprised of 90% recycled materials. Rachael challenges herself by up cycling, creating ‘new’ cohesive ‘sustainable ranges’ without compromising style and design for ‘environmental friendliness’ To date, Rachael’s collections have been seen on catwalks throughout Australia, in Italy and the UK which have received extensive media coverage in these countries as well as parts of Asia. In 2009 Rachael Cassar was labeled as one of 12 new Designers to watch (pick of the Crop) by WGNS, the Trend Analysis and Forecasting Magazine Online Resource for the global fashion industry. In 2010 Rachael Cassar exhibited at London Fashion Week’s Esthetica Exhibition, and in 2011 was invited to have a boutique solo fashion parade on Maddison Avenue during New York Fashion Week- Fashion Night Out. At present Rachael Cassar is represented by Preface Public relations in Los Angeles and has had her designs worn by Rhianna, Kristen Stewart, Ginnifer Goodwin, Christina Ricci, Tarryn Manning, Kerri Underwood, Kesha, Selena Gomez, Angela Lindvill to name a few. “The process of recycling and re-using has always been a passion and an intrinsic part of who I am. I could not help but feel responsible and obligated to use my ability to re-use and my love for exciting design to create an alternative fashion solution with an environmental consciousness.” www.rachaelcassar.com
