Mary Miller, Rip Curl Vice President of Design and Merchandising, grew up on the beaches of Southern California, surrounded by the surfing lifestyle. So, it’s no surprise that she naturally gravitated towards the surf industry where she started her career as a designer for a major surf brand 18 years ago.
Over the years, she’s contributed to several major swim and fashion brands in the area, eventually settling in at Rip Curl. Over the past six years she has also served as Global Chairman, overseeing the Girls’ business globally, and has helped Rip Curl flourish into a top tier swimwear brand.
Miller, who currently resides in Laguna Beach, loves Rip Curl because the brand has provided her the opportunity to “Live the Search” and pursue her passion for surf, travel, and adventure. “What I love most about my job is being able to make products that are fashionable, but most important are flattering and something that makes a girl feel sexy,” remarks Miller. “Most people are self conscious in a swimsuit, and we strive to make a girl exude confidence in and out of the water.”
Miller and her team draw inspiration for the “My Bikini” line from their travels to surf destinations around the globe. The Spring ’15 line exudes elements from their recent travels to Namotu, Fiji and Bali, Indonesia.
