Melvin Tanaya and Lyna Ty are the faces behind Australian based, luxury menswear label Song for the Mute. Known internationally for their unique design philosophy and unflinching attention to detail the brand continue to stand out for their masterful use of a wide range of bespoke fabrics. Song for the Mute’s international reputation has allowed them to show at Paris Fashion Week seasonally since 2013, entertaining buyers from around the world and expanding their stockists to include 25 of the finest boutiques in over 12 countries. This list includes Chinese department store Lane Crawford, Zurich based BoutiqueRoma, Los Angeles' H.Lorenzo and Australia's own purveyors of luxury fashion, Harrolds. Following a highly successful show in 2012 Song for the Mute will debut their latest collection, titled ‘GREY’, at MBFWA where they will once again stand alone as the only exclusively menswear label showing in 2014. Song for the Mute’s latest Fall/Winter collection ‘GREY’ builds on the brands commitment to fabric driven garments. Crafted from virgin alpaca/wool blends and further development of their paraffin and resin coated fabrics this season's subsequent construction aims to heighten fabric tactile sensations. Aiming to constantly produce garments of the highest quality the brand continues their commitment to milling all their fabrics, the majority of which are exclusive to Song for the Mute, in Italy and Japan and constructing the garments under the close inspection of designers Melvin Tanaya and Lyna Ty right here in Australia.
