Fashion Editor, POPSUGAR Australia
Despite some questionable style moves during her early teens (read: below-the-knee boardshorts with Etnies) Kate McGregor has long been in love with fashion. After graduating high school, she fast-tracked her career, working as an Assistant Buyer and Stylist for Sydney-based boutiques and the Westfield Group.
In 2011 she moved into editorial, working as part of the fashion team at Woman’s Day — Australia’s highest selling weekly magazine. This was followed by an 18-month stint at NW Magazine, starting as Fashion Assistant and then eventually becoming the magazines youngest ever Fashion Editor in 2013, at just 21-years-old.
After leading a major redesign of the magazine’s fashion pages, Kate transitioned to digital, joining POPSUGAR Australia as its Fashion Editor in 2015. She’s been the driving force behind #popaushoots — an initiative that saw the publication produce its very first shoppable editorial shoot that has spotlighted the likes of Anna Heinrich, Pia Miller, and Steph Claire Smith — and in 2018, added Lifestyle and Affiliate Marketing Editor to her title.
Kate’s nine years of experience within the fashion industry — with a focus on styling, writing, shoot production, and content and social strategy — combined with her obsession with the internet, saw her grow POPSUGAR Australia’s Fashion audience by over 200% in four years, all while testing and trialling countless new trends.
Now the Managing Editor, Kate leads POPSUGAR Australia’s talented team of women, building a supportive and empowered culture set up for success. She is responsible for audience growth and development — which sees her growing commercially attractive audience segments and constantly evolving POPSUGAR’s content offering — editorial strategy, and brand marketing.
