SYDNEY (April 7, 2014): Leading music service, Spotify, and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia have joined forces to bring music to the forefront at Fashion Week. 

Delegates and fans alike can access music content curated from Australia’s most high profile designers, such as Ellery, We Are Handsome, Bec & Bridge, Emma Mulholland, Ginger & Smart, Desert Designs, N.L.P, and Serpent & The Swan. Take a peek behind the curtain to hear the music that inspires these leading creative minds, from their home, to their stores, the showroom, and the runway.

Limited edition designer Sharetapes (images below) will be gifted at select runway shows, providing an instantaneous, and collectable, way to listen to your favourite designers’ mix-tapes. Simply tap with NFC (if you have a recent Android, Windows or BlackBerry device), or scan the Sharetape using any QR code reader app (on all Smartphones, including iPhones). A Spotify DJ booth will provide tunes on-site for delegates in between shows, powered by Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week’s official Spotify profile. Delegates are also encouraged to tweet @SpotifyAU #MBFWA #RequestLine to request songs they’d like to hear, which will be added to the on-site playlist. Each day MBFWA will feature a round up of the very best of “Runway Tunes” from the day of shows.  

The front row set will also be treated to complimentary 3 month Premium Spotify gift cards, allowing access to over 20 million tunes on all compatible mobile, tablet, and home entertainment devices, completely on-demand. You can also download music and listen offline, with enhanced sound quality, and no ads.

For those at home, in a Fashion Week first, Spotify will be powering the music accompanying the shows’ livestream. Throughout the stream, suggested designer playlists and tracks will be surfaced and viewers will be able to play them, for free, via the Spotify Play Button, which will sit directly beneath the player at MBFashionweek.com/live.

Spotify this week also announced the introduction of a new darker theme, refreshed typography and rounded iconography, that’s started rolling out to desktop, web player and iOS. Playing your favourite music has never looked so good.
